Jesus said in Matthew 5:44 to “love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.”
Today and every day going forward we will pray for those in the news and for those who need the love of Jesus in their hearts. If there is anyone you feel compelled to pray for in this blog, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
While some of you might think twice about praying for vicious dictator Kim Jong Un, and some for our own President Donald Trump, but now is certainly the time to be on our knees for both of them. In what has become what some are terming, “World War Tweet,” the two world leaders are letting everyone know in no uncertain terms that they are not going to back down from the nuclear threats of the other.
And, it is becoming a “dangerous standoff,” CBN News reported this morning. In his New Year’s Day speech, Jong Un actually said, “The US should know that the nuclear button is on my desk. The entire US mainland is within our nuclear strike range.” To which Trump retorted in a tweet yesterday, “Will someone from his depleted and food starved regime please inform him that I too have a Nuclear Button, but it is a much bigger & more powerful one than his, and my Button works!”
It’s a war of words that no one can afford to see escalate. Therefore:
“Dear Lord, we come to you today in humility and plead with you to intercede on our behalf to speak to the hearts of the leaders of both North Korea and the United States. Help President Trump not be so reactionary about the threats of his counterpart, but to help him act accordingly as the leader of our nation to protect us. Guide him in all his endeavors. He is under a lot of pressure, as You know, so speak to his heart and let Him know that You are with him and that you will show him what to do. Help him to seek you in everything he does. He’s only a man and cannot possibly fathom Your ways and Your will, but humble him guide his every step as he faces the threats of a man who obviously does not know you.
And Lord, we pray for Kim Jong Un, who has shown that he certainly does not know who You are and does not know Your almighty power. We ask that you radically change his heart, because that is what it is going to take. And, only You can do that. We pray for Jong Un that he sees that life is precious, and that you remove the selfishness and hardness of his heart to help him see Your glory. It’s going to take a radical move from you and the Holy Spirit to touch his heart and for him to care for his people, as well as the people of the United States. Only you know his true heart, but what we see is pure evil and pure Satan in his character. You have already defeated the enemy. Turn Jong Un’s heart around and show the world Your almighty power and what you can do. We know that if you are for us, then who can be against us?
Turn the hearts of all the world’s dictators and remove the hatred from their hearts. Give them all peace in their minds and hearts so that we may all live in peace. We praise You and thank You in Your mighty name. Amen.”
2 Chronicles 7:14 (MEV): “If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray, and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
