They That Wait on the Lord

“Yet those who wait for the Lord
Will gain new strength;
They will mount up with wings like eagles,
They will run and not get tired,
They will walk and not become weary.” — Isaiah 40:31

Some random, but heartfelt thoughts on this Sunday evening:

Waiting on the Lord is one of the toughest, if not the toughest, things to do in life. Patience is a challenge every day. If indeed we will gain strength by doing so, I believe I will be an extremely strong person in the future.

Sometimes we simply don’t understand the trials and tribulations that God puts us through. Sometimes we don’t understand why it has to be so hard. Sometimes we don’t understand what is in the heart of those that we love. Sometimes …

All I know is what is in my heart, and that is that I love God and that he is teaching me every day how to love others His way. In two months I believe I have come a long way, and maybe He is pleased with my progress. But as much as He can change me–and as much I can change myself–I cannot change others. I cannot usurp their will, and He simply WON’T change their will.

I’ve been told to move forward, and that’s exactly what I intend to do. God WILL restore what has been stolen from me. And He will do that for you, too. Trust, trust, trust.

1 THESSALONIANS 5:16-18

“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in ALL circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

So many people have said to me, “It’s not over.” I believe God spoke to these people to speak that word into me. I MUST believe it and ignore the lie of the enemy. God, do your mighty work and restore and reconcile. Help my unbelief every day and to give you all the praise and glory for what you are about to do. It is so, so hard, but NOTHING is impossible with you and I believe in your promises.

PHILIPPIANS 4:4-7

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

I pray a special prayer tonight for Pastor Bonnie Vorhees and her health. God, take your mighty hand and touch her. This is NOT a death sentence for her. Like she told me today, she has more to do; and she assured me that I do as well. I receive that, and I receive that for her.

Thank you Lord for your goodness and your mercy. I love you. Show me how to serve you with all my heart all of the rest if the days of my life.
