Jesus said in Matthew 5:44 to “love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.”
We pray for those in the news and for those who need the love of Jesus in their hearts. If there is anyone you feel compelled to pray for in this blog, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
As a long-time member of the media, I’ve recently adopted the philosophy that nothing I see in the news ever shocks me anymore. That doesn’t mean that I am not heartbroken in what I read, view or hear, however.
Today I read an article that took its place in a long line of the things I describe above. I read an article on Breitbart.com titled, “Barbra Streisand Blames Trump for Florida Shooting: ‘He Brings Out the Violence in People.'”
Suprised? Absolutely not. Disappointed and dismayed? Absolutely. Streisand, along with many of her Hollywood friends, is a card-carrying liberal. She is a good friend of Hillary Clinton and has expressed her disdain for President Donald Trump since Trump decided to run for the nation’s office. She has used her platform to make sure people know exactly what she thinks of our Commander-In-Chief.
President Trump responsible for Nikolas Cruz killing 17 people at a Parkland, Florida, high school?
I have to believe that Ms. Streisand knows in her heart that President Trump isn’t responsible for the evil in one teenager’s heart. I’ve got to believe that she, and many others like her in Hollywood, are simply bitter that their liberalist agenda can no longer go unchecked now that Trump is in office. It is very sad, indeed. Therefore, I pray:
“Dear Father in Heaven, I come before you with a grateful heart for love, your grace and your mercy. I praise you that you have shown your children, including myself, grace; a grace that is undeserved. You love us and you want us to come to you with a grateful and pure heart. I pray now that you do the miraculous. I pray that you turn the hearts of the liberals in Hollywood who apparently hate you. They have heard about you, but they have rejected you. Well, you are the God of the impossible. We know that with your power, the power of the Holy Spirit, you can help them see your glory and proclaim your glory. With their sphere of influence, and in some cases, it’s huge, they can help turn the hearts of many others who think just like them. We know that only the Holy Spirit can convict their hearts, and we ask you now, Holy Spirit, to overwhelm them with your love. Let them see the error of their ways through your grace and mercy, and let them know that you do love them more than anything. Raise up an army through the people in Hollywood in the film and music industries, people that no one would have ever believed would come over to your side. You would not ever change their own will, but open their eyes to all of the goodness that you have for them. I pray for Ms. Streisand’s heart to be free of the lies the enemy has sold her, and for her to find others that will surround her and nurture her and guide her. She’s in her 70s, but it’s not too late for her. We praise you and thank you, Father God, and we know that you can do the impossible! Amen.”
